GILLIESTON Heights teenager Maddi Elliott won another medal yesterday at the London Paralympic Games.
The-13-year-old, who is the youngest member of the Australian team and the nation’s youngest Paralympic gold medallist, came third in the S8 100-metre freestyle final.
This brings Maddi’s tally to four medals. Earlier in the week she won gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay, silver in the 50 metres freestyle and bronze in the 400 metres freestyle.
It has been an amazing Games for the swimmer, who was sent by coach Michael Legge to gain experience for the Rio Paralympics in 2016.
Proud mother Nikki Elliott said her youngest daughter, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy aged four, continued to impress.
“She really gave it all she could,” Ms Elliott said yesterday.
“I’ll be saving for Rio, that’s for sure.”
Maddi will attend the closing ceremony in London tomorrow and is due home on Thursday.
